About
Fred J. Lauver is a Pennsylvania author of fiction, who cut his teeth in writing in magazine, public relations, as an actor, and other nonfiction before turning to fiction. His first work of fiction, Olympus, tells the post-apocalyptic tale of the Earth's survivors existing in domed cities on the Moon. His next novel, Aziza and the Caves of Mars, is a near future adventure that imagines the first mission to Mars and their discovery of an existing civilization under the surface of the Red Planet. His more recent literary fiction, Heart in the Jungle: Mountain City, is set in the author's hometown of Altoona, Pa., in 1966 with the war in Vietnam looming over the protagonist's entry into manhood.
The author is a graduate of Penn State University, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and has three adult daughters. He was widowed in 2022. His late wife, Carol was a writer, teacher, and artists.
